Sefton Design Awards 2023 was Sefton Council’s inaugural design awards competition, celebrating the many examples of good design built within the borough over the past 10-years. Our conversion project at 509-515 Lord Street, Southport won both the Best Heritage Scheme and Best Overall Scheme categories of the awards.
509-515 Lord Street consisted of the sensitive internal remodelling and careful restoration of the external envelope elements and glass canopy of a prominent, Grade-2 listed, corner building in Southport. The upper floors were converted into 9 new apartments and the 2 retail units on the ground floor were entirely refurbished, with a new traditional hardwood shopfront installed.
The Best Heritage Scheme Award was presented for the preservation and enhancement of a significant heritage asset that successfully integrates the old and new.
The Best Overall Scheme was presented to the best scheme which exemplifies the highest quality in design and makes a significant contribution to the built environment.
